He expressed excitement and enthusiasm for acquiring other kits (he's built every one of the 101 projects in the SC100 kit at least a dozen times at this point.). He spends hours a day building circuits and really has learned quite a bit. That said, the other reviewer that said the speaker is not loud enough is correct. Pressing it for 5 seconds seems to get it to scan to the next station. Pressing it for a second, or pressing it repeatedly, just yields static (IOW it's not scanning). There is no indication how long you have to hold the T button down. The instructions only say to press the T button and it will search for stations, which on any other radio means to press and release the scan button so that it will scan to just the next station. First one didn't work at all, and we were on my second one, child bordering on tears, before we figured out that you have to press and -HOLD- the T button for a few seconds in order to find a station. But this time the receiving side was swapped out, as built a basic circuit around a TA7642 AM amplifier/demodulator IC, with only six passive components and a hand-wound coil.
